Physical oceanography research.  Data collection and analysis.  Design and maintenance of novel instrumentation and methods.  Fieldwork including instrument deployment and maintenance.

Water quality and dynamics of inland reservoirs: B. Everett Jordan Lake, and Falls Lake.
FerryMon: Data collection system using NC Ferries as ships of opportunity.
Slocum Glider deployment, piloting, and maintenance.
Coastal Radar (CODAR) system installation, operation, and maintenance.
Estuarine sediment resuspension.
Turbulence measurement and methodology.
Long-term continuous time series of vertical profiles in the Neuse and New River Estuaries and inland reservoirs.
Development of Autonomous Vertical Profilers and data collection devices.
Coastal research buoy with meteorological and oceanographic components.
Continuous real-time near-shore wave and current monitoring.
